Description
Overview
The Vestwood 9.6kWh 48V 200Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Battery (model VT48200B) is the largest residential battery in the Vestwood household range. It delivers 9.6kWh of LiFePO4 storage in a single rack-mountable enclosure — enough to power a typical 3–4 bedroom Kenyan home through a full overnight period without needing multiple batteries wired in parallel.
One unit. One BMS. One set of cables. That’s the simplicity advantage of choosing the VT48200B over a multi-battery parallel setup.

What It Can Power — Real-World Kenya Usage
With 7.7kWh of usable energy (80% DoD), the VT48200B provides genuine overnight backup for a 3–4 bedroom Kenyan home:
- Full LED lighting (8–10 bulbs) — 12+ hours
- Fridge running all night — 10–14 hours
- 43″ LED TV — 8+ hours
- Washing machine — 1–2 full loads
- Multiple ceiling fans — all night
- Laptop + Wi-Fi router — overnight continuous
- Security alarm + CCTV — 24/7 uninterrupted
- Phone charging — 5+ smartphones simultaneously
A typical evening combo (fridge + TV + lights + router + fans + phone charging at ~350W average) runs for 12–14 hours — from 6pm straight through to 6am with energy to spare.
Inverter Compatibility
The VT48200B communicates via RS485, CAN, and Modbus protocols. It has been tested and confirmed compatible with:
- Deye (all 48V hybrid models)
- Growatt (SPF and SPH series)
- Sunsynk (5kW, 8kW, 12kW)
- SRNE (all 48V models)
- Victron (MultiPlus, Quattro, EasySolar)
- Luxpower
- Goodwe (ET and BT series)
- RCT, Synapse, Voltronic
- All Vestwood inverters (6kW, 10kW, 15kW, 20kW)
Recommended inverter charge settings: Max charge voltage 56V, Float 54V, Cut-off 40.5V.
Intelligent BMS — 7 Layers of Protection
The self-designed Vestwood BMS protects the battery at every level:
- Overcharge protection — prevents damage from excessive charging voltage
- Over-discharge protection — stops deep drain that shortens cell lifespan
- Overcurrent protection — guards against excessive current draw
- Short circuit protection — instant disconnect in fault conditions
- Over-temperature protection — shuts down if cells exceed safe operating temperature
- Under-temperature charge lockout — prevents charging below 0°C (which damages LFP cells)
- Dynamic cell balancing — ensures all 15 cells charge and discharge evenly for maximum lifespan
The BMS also provides real-time SOC (State of Charge) and SOH (State of Health) data via the communication interface — accessible through your inverter’s monitoring system or app.
Installation Options
The VT48200B supports three installation methods:
- Rack mounting — fits standard 19″ and 23″ server rack cabinets (professional look, space-efficient)
- Wall mounting — using heavy-duty brackets rated for 100kg+ (consult your installer)
- Floor mounting — on any stable, level surface (simplest option)
Vestwood offers a dedicated single-layer battery rack (sold separately) for clean rack installations. When paralleling multiple VT48200B units, maintain at least 10mm spacing between batteries for adequate airflow.
Important: At 78kg, professional two-person installation is mandatory. Do not attempt to lift or mount this battery alone.
Expandable Up to 144kWh
The VT48200B supports up to 15 units in parallel — a maximum of 144kWh on a single bus. This means you can start with one battery (9.6kWh) and expand over time as your needs or budget grow. Common expansion paths:
- 1 unit (9.6kWh) — standard 3–4 bedroom home
- 2 units (19.2kWh) — large home or small business with extended backup
- 3 units (28.8kWh) — commercial property with full overnight coverage
- 4+ units (38.4kWh+) — industrial or large commercial applications
Why Choose One 9.6kWh Unit Over Two 5kWh Units
The VT48200B delivers clear advantages over a two-battery parallel setup:
- Simpler wiring — one set of cables instead of two
- Fewer failure points — one BMS instead of two
- Less wall space — single enclosure vs two mounted side-by-side
- Faster installation — one connection point to the inverter
- Better cell balance — all 15 cells managed by a single BMS for consistent performance
The only scenario where two separate units are preferable is when BMS redundancy is critical (e.g., medical equipment backup) — if one unit fails, the other continues operating independently.
