Description
The Shortest Rail for the Smallest Jobs
The 150mm mini rail is the most compact rail in the range — half the length of the 300mm mini rail and a fraction of a full rail. It exists for the smallest mounting jobs, where the panel is little and the space is tight, and where even a 300mm offcut would overhang awkwardly. Like every rail we stock, it shares the same Al6005-T5 aluminium profile, so it takes the same clamps and fittings; it is simply scaled down to suit the very smallest mounts.
Where the 300mm mini rail handles small panels and modest spans, the 150mm steps down further still — to the compact panels that power a single device, mounted in places where every centimetre of rail length matters. It is the rail you reach for when a 300mm is more than the job needs.
Where a 150mm Rail Fits Best
The 150mm length suits the smallest category of solar mounting tasks:
- Compact device panels: the little panels that run a single gate motor, an electric-fence energiser, a pump controller, or a small DC load — these panels are short enough that a pair of 150mm rails holds them neatly
- CCTV and security-camera panels: the small panels feeding individual cameras, where a short rail keeps the mount tidy and unobtrusive
- Single security-light panels: compact panels powering standalone lights
- Very tight mounting spaces: narrow roof strips, pole brackets, or wall positions where there is barely room for a rail at all
- Bracket and pole mounts: small panels fixed to a pole or bracket rather than a roof, where a minimal rail keeps weight and bulk down
- Repairs and small additions: replacing a short damaged rail section, or adding a single tiny panel to an existing setup
Choosing Between 150mm and 300mm
| Your Situation | Better Choice |
|---|---|
| Very small device panel (gate motor, camera, energiser) | 150mm |
| Small panel needing a bit more support span | 300mm |
| Extremely tight space where 300mm overhangs | 150mm |
| Single compact residential panel | 300mm |
| Minimal weight and bulk on a pole/bracket mount | 150mm |
Both lengths share the identical profile and fittings, so the decision is purely about how much rail the panel and the space call for. When unsure, the 300mm gives a little more grip; the 150mm gives the most compact, lowest-profile result.

Same Profile, Same Fittings
Because the 150mm rail uses the identical cross-section as the full-length rails, everything in the mounting system works with it without adaptation. The same mid-clamps and end-clamps grip a panel onto it. The same T-bolts and tilt-in nuts slide into its channel. The same roof anchors fix it down. There is nothing special to source — the 150mm rail simply slots into the standard mounting ecosystem at the smallest scale, which is exactly the point of using a matching-profile short rail rather than an unrelated little bracket.
